College Admissions Is Complicated.
Your Plan Doesn't Have to Be.
FirstFlight College Coaching helps high-achieving and first-generation students build a clear, strategic path to college — from freshman year through acceptance day.
Backed by 17+ years of experience inside college admissions offices at Clemson University and East Carolina University.
Success in College Admissions Starts With a Clear Plan.
The college admissions process has more moving parts than most families realize — and not knowing how to navigate the process can cost your student opportunities, money, or both.
- You're not sure if your student is on track for the colleges they're interested in
- You don't know how financial aid actually works — or how to position your family for it
- You're wondering if you're already behind
- You're student is a first-generation college-goer, and you're navigating this without a roadmap
That’s exactly why FirstFlight exists.
FirstFlight College Coaching helps students and families navigate the college admissions process with a clear strategy — from building a balanced college list to developing compelling applications and identifying scholarship opportunities.
Strategic College Planning — From Day One to Decision Day
FirstFlight College Coaching works with students and families at every stage of the high school journey — not just senior year.
Here’s what that looks like in practice.
Financial Aid & Scholarship Strategy
Understanding what you’re actually going to pay, how to position your family for need-based and merit aid, and where scholarship opportunities exist.
Application Positioning
Helping your student present a cohesive, compelling profile — essays, activities, recommendations, and coursework — that tells a clear story to admissions readers.
Long-Term Planning
Whether your student begins planning in 9th grade or joins the process later in high school, we create a personalized roadmap that helps them make strategic decisions and stay focused on their long-term goals.
You're Not Getting a Template. You're Getting Someone Who's Sat on the Other Side of the Table.
I’m Daryl, founder of FirstFlight College Coaching. Before I started helping families navigate the admissions process, I spent more than 17 years working inside it.
I’ve served in senior roles at Clemson University’s College of Business, Bowling Green State University, and East Carolina University. I’ve reviewed applications, shaped enrollment strategy, and led district-wide FAFSA intiatives for one of North Carolina’s largest school systems.
I know how admissions offices think — because I used to be one of the people in the room.
FirstFlight was built to give every family access to that kind of insider perspective — especially first-generation students and high-achieving students whose potential isn’t always reflected in a one-size-fits-all process.
